Description
Redesmere is without doubt one of the North-Wests best known carp fisheries and has been steeped in carp angling history for decades. The mature mere is situated deep in the breathtaking Cheshire countryside just below the Capesthorne estate and extends to some forty acres from the shallows at the North end right down to the dam on Fanshawe Lane.
Unsurprisingly, the water proves extremely popular with a large number of specimen carp anglers looking to pit their wits against some of the best known specimens in the region, but Redesmere is also now becoming increasingly popular as a specimen bream water with countless double figure fish now being taken.

The main body of the lake is between two and three and a half meters in depth, however, there are a number of deeper channels out off the floating island, which go to as much as six metres in depth.
The shallows prove a popular area during the warmer months but all areas regularly produce fish. Many anglers favour fishing at range, however, marginal fishing should not be overlooked!
The water is typically rich in nutrients and plant life, which helps to sustain a healthy abundance of organisms and Eco systems.

Species
Redesmere is known nationally for its quality stocks of Carp. The water contains an estimated 150 fish, of which, ten are regularly caught at over 30lb. During 2004 a further three new fish have broken the 30lb barrier, a good sign for the future, which gives thirteen 30lb plus fish in total.
There are some thirty fish over 25lbs, at least ten of which are commons. Its extremely pleasing that a number of these commons are young fish. In addition there are around five fish between 28 and 29lb. The lake record stands at 38lbs 4ozs.

Remarkably the Tench also exist in truly specimen size, with both males and females being caught in excess of 8lbs. The lake record is a shade over 10lbs. There is a large head of Bream between the 4 - 8lb mark, with a good number of double figure fish being taken.
Perch, Roach and Rudd provide good sport from the autumn onwards with Pike fishing continuing to improve with low doubles regularly showing to lures.
